At Pleasant Smiles, we truly enjoy getting to know our patients. We reserve enough time for your first dental visit so that you can get to know our team, ask any questions you may have and inform us about your goals and talk about your treatment options. Our emphasis will be on the diagnostic evaluation of your dental health. We will determine what dental work was previously done, the state of your current oral health, and what future services might be needed.
We understand that you, or your child, may feel anxious about visiting the dentist. Our practice puts forth extra effort to make sure that you are comfortable and happy every time you visit our practice.
Your first dental visit with Dr. Bajwa includes:
Once Dr. Bajwa has reviewed your dental and medical health history forms, and completed your dental exam, she will provide you with a dental consultation and information about any additional dental treatments you, or your child, may need.
Lastly, our team will ensure you have a cost estimate for any needed treatment so there won’t be any surprises. Insurance pre-authorizations will be completed when necessary and payment options provided for your consideration. We will do our best to schedule treatment appointments to fit your needs.
A parent or guaradian must accompany all patients under 18 at the consultation visit.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association recommend that your child have his/her first dental examination by 12 months of age to ensure that your child has healthy teeth. It is customary for us to provide a dental examination, cleaning, fluoride treatment, and to obtain diagnostic x-rays.
We know that new parents have plenty to worry about, Dr. Bajwa is a parent of two kids and have been through the process of figuring out what to do in all sorts of novel situations that new parents face. Here at Pleasant Smiles, we are more than willing to help you prepare your kid’s very first dental visit, so please do not hesitate to reach us at (978) 258-3672 with whatever questions you have.
Before bringing your child to us for the first time, please prepare him or her for this new experience. For young children, there are excellent children’s stories which describe a visit to the dentist. Talk soothingly to the child about the upcoming visit. Please try to discuss the positive aspects of dentistry with your child. Convey good feelings to your child about dental visits being a part of growing up. We believe in having the child determine the pace of the first visit and us developing a rapport with your child.
During the visit, we will make every effort to make you and the child as comfortable as possible. We will spend some time to get to know each other and then start with gently examining the mouth. We allow parent to hold their child in the chair lap while the child’s mouth is being examined. Finally, we’ll discuss any issues that need to be addressed and then demonstrate ways to keep your child’s oral health in top condition. Taking proper care of the child’s teeth in-between dental cleanings is essential to prevent decay and problems from occurring.
We will schedule your appointment as promptly as possible. If you have pain or an emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see you that day. We try our best to stay on schedule to minimize your waiting. Due to the fact Dr. Bajwa provides many types of dental services, various circumstances may lengthen the time allocated for a procedure. Please call (978) 258-3672 with any questions or to schedule an appointment.
